"When Zheng Qi (Zheng 正 = Upright/correct/righteous) is preserved internally, pathological factors cannot invade." (Huang Di Nei Jing Su wen 72)

This quote is part of Qibo's (the physician advisor) answer to the yellow emperor's question about how one can stay healthy and strong while supporting the sick infected in a time of an epidemic!

The answer continues to explain how to cultivate Zheng Qi by aligning the body and the internal organs with environmental aspects as directions, colors and celestial movements with a mindful and creative use of imagery (I'll read it in class tomorrow).

While quite esoteric this is a wonderful guidance for brave care takers at all times.

Zheng Qi is often contrasted with Xie Qi (Xie 邪 evil = all kinds of pathogenic factors)

and is assessed physically as uprightness (opposed to slumping and in severe cases prolapse of organs or pelvic floor for example)

Zheng Qi also has emotional and moral aspects that relate to resiliency, integrity and alignment.

In tomorrow's class we'll explore these expressions of Zheng Qi as an embodied experience.

Please arrive early

We start on time at 9:30
